THEORY
Skinner’s Operant Conditioning Theory would be the theoretical model that I would connect the most with because Skinner emphasizes on behavior and how negative or positive behavior actions should be dealt with. As a child I would love to get rewarded for outstanding behavior with a sticker or some type of reward and that would cause me to consistently to do good behavior acts. In my classroom I will reward my students for their excellent behavior to keep them motivated to do the right thing. Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences is the theoretical model that I would connect with the most because it demonstrates a little bit of everything dealing with intelligence and shows different ways to educate our youth.
APPROACH TO TEACHING
The Montessori class is resembles one of the classrooms when I was in kindergarten. I actually did enjoy being in a Montessori classroom because it made me feel comfortable and able to feel good about learning in that environment. It made me feel like I was in my own little world in the classroom because everything was the same size of me and my classmates. “Learning environment is broadly defined as the physical, curricular, temporal, and interpersonal features that directly affect the children and adults in the early care and education setting” Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. (2012).
DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE PRACTICE
“Developmentally appropriate practice, often shortened to DAP, is an approach to teaching grounded in the research on how young children develop and learn and in what is known about effective early education” National Association for the Education of Young Children. (n.d.). It is a way of showing kids how they change and grow in education.
