DEVELOPMENTAL DOMAINS
“Physical domain of development covers physical growth and development, gross motor development and skills, fine motor development and skills, and perceptual motor skills” Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. (2012). In image two it shows two toddlers playing one pushing the other on a toy train. The toddlers are using their motor skills to get up and push each other on the toy train. The more the toddlers are playing with the toy train they are developing gross motor skill as they are walking using their legs and arms pushing each other on the toy train. The physical developmental domain will influence my work with children because it will show me what areas of development to focus on like physical activity such as recess and activities that deal with health and nutrition. For snacks I would bring different fruits to class everyday and have the class write what they think about the fruit and why do they think fruit is ahealthy part of their lives. The physical development domain will influence me and my work because I want my students to know their potential of developing into a bigger and smarter individual in life and use their brains to think, and to retain knowledge that will grow exponentially.
HOME SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS
“According to NAEYC, Children are the ones who benefit most from healthy, reciprocal relationships between teachers and families” (NAEYC, n.d., p. 9, Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. 2012). According to the text the home school partnership is a very good program that is highly recommended to help motivate and encourage their children to do better in school and do their best.“One important result of parental involvement is that children know that they are supported and are more motivated to succeed” Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. (2012). The support from the teachers and the parents is the best combination when it comes to the children lives and education. Everything plays a vital role in the kids’ lives and affects their learning abilities and their potential.
TRENDS/ISSUES
The trends and issues that I notice is that there are kids that have to struggle that deals with poverty and everybody is not getting the same quality education based on their location. Why shouldn’t everyone receive the same quality of education? We need to come together as one and one fight and no one should have to struggle. Nothing is free in our world and if we can’t afford to educate our youth. How will our bright will their future be?
NAEYC
“Appreciate childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human life cycle” Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. (2012). I would implement this core value into my classroom by emphasizing on play and activities in my classroom that would make my students enjoy being a kid in my class. Everyone can only be a child once in their lives so why not help the kids enjoy their time while they have it. I will help the kids realize that learning can be fun.
“Base our work on knowledge of how children develop and learn” Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. (2012). I would implement this core value into my classroom by creating a classroom of creativity. Early childhood education is the beginning stages of development for the kids to start learning and growing in knowledge of themselves and education.
“Appreciate and support the bond between the child and family”Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. (2012). I would implement this core value into my classroom by having plenty of family days where the parents will be able to come work with their children while their kids are learning. The support of the kids families will help the kids become more motivated to learn and impress their parents. The learning environment will be very comfortable for my students because of the bonding of their families. The kids will feel the love and support of their parents while they attending the school events.
“Recognize that children and adults achieve their full potential in the context of relationships that are based on trust and respect” (NAEYC, 2011, Estes, L.S., & Krogh, S. L. 2012). I would implement this core value into my classroom by making plenty of parent conference meetings and speaking with the parents about how important it is to make sure their kids are feeling their love and care. The love care and support from their families will help the kids develop trust and respect for their families and help them put forth their best effort in making good grades and great conduct.
